Forum VS Forum Tourny

I understand it was discussed yesterday in the chatbox about a possible tourney between Kooch's forum, I will add the link as soon as I get it :3 , and out own forum pokemon wars. I kinda like the idea, but of course its up to you guys, after all your the ones that make this forum what it is. So what do you think?

I would start a poll, but this seems like an unfair way of doing it ;3 can't have Koochs men coming to sway the vote. So please post your thoughts.

Once we have an idea, we can set rules if we decide to go ahead, although I'm pretty sure it would be a standard Smogon style?

Smogon OU rules; 6v6, singles.

We should do successive team elimination style (AKA "All-Kill" style from professional Starcraft). 5v5 or something. Must post replay after every match. One a player has selected a team, that team must be used for any additional matches that players plays. If you win, you play on. If you lose, the next team members fights the victor. This continues until one team runs out of players. For example:

PW 1 vs. kooch 1 --> PW 1 wins
PW 1 vs. kooch 2 --> kooch 2 wins
PW 2 vs. kooch 2 --> kooch 2 wins
PW 3 vs. kooch 2 --> kooch 2 wins
PW 4 vs. kooch 2 --> PW 4 wins
PW 4 vs. kooch 3 --> PW 4 wins
PW 4 vs. kooch 4 --> Kooch 4 wins
PW 5 vs. kooch 4 --> PW 5 wins
PW 5 vs. kooch 5 --> PW 5 wins --> Team PW wins

basically, while a few good players can carry a team, putting them early on in the lineup may not be the best idea because you get to watch them play. In this scenario, kooch 2 was really good, but PW 4 got to watch 3 of his matches against PW 1, PW and PW 3, so when it was finally his turn, he had a counter strategy. PW 4 defeated kooch 3 as well, but kooch 4 defeated him. PW 5 beat kooch 4 but and was at a disadvantage in the final match because kooch 5 already go to see his team; nevertheless, because PW is awesome, we won in the end.

I think this will be a fun tournament because it allows weaker players to still contribute to their teams. Even if you lose the match, your team mates got to see your opponents team. A close loss is also not bad because you probably revealed more of their movesets and approximate EVs etc.

It also allows us to play as a team and work together, while still playing matches in the preferred (singles) format. Lastly, not everyone on a team needs to be present for the tournament to move forward, so we can finish the tournament more quickly.

I quite like that idea Far. It evenly balances power, strategy, and pure skill so that, in a way, everyone has a chance to do well. I really like only being allowed to use one team, too. I'm all for this idea. Plus, it gives me the chance to show off my own incredible power!

haha - you're not weak by any means. even if you don't win, i doubt people on Kooch's forum can 6-0 you. At worst, you'll let me or Taka see their pokemon and their movesets

So basically we can fodder of players like myself to learn the foes team so that stronger players like Taka and Far can take them out... I'm all for this idea.

A little complicated with kooch 1 and PW4 XD but I get the gist.

that's why we should put you first. your hyper-offensive, shoot-first, don't bother with questions style will probably catch them off guard, and you'll probably score 2-3 consecutive victories before they figure out how to stop you. I'll go last and anchor the team

I don't mind going first, my strange play styles might throw the opponents... however my play style does work best if I know what I'm going in to fight.

Actually... We all want the excitement to show off our skill before the camera and represent the forum proudly... However I do believe, personally, that this one will be purely competitive... That is to say, no one cares if you had fun, all that matters is if you WIN, WIN, WIN *hyper ventilates

How does everyone feel about making this a nomination-only tournament? At least for 3 out of the 5 competitors? And I feel it obligatory for one of our 3 administrators to participate, something which they should privately discuss and be left as an exception from the nominee-only little whatever I want, leaving one spot for a trainer who has been with us since the beginning, or has just collaborated deeply here?

Or should we just make it a first come, first serve? By the way, props to Far for mentioning the format and Aurath for making it official, because it will happen, because no one is opposing the idea and we're all excited, very so.

Also, I suggest we let Far (we all know he will be one of the PW representatives) go last, since we all know his team will be most thorough and he will have a heavy plan? Oh, and feel free to tell me if I am overreacting.

Now, if everyone agrees with the representatives, I suggest we begin discussing positions and having mock battles between us all.

Contestants from the other forum: psychicmaniac, Sven,kooch, blackcharizard, oglok, shinyjoe . Could someone organize the battles plz into rounds?

Just need to decide on the leads. that's all.

Is SS going first? Or should we send out DF as a scout?

SS or DF should battle whoever Kooch wants to go first, then post the replay. He keeps going until he loses, then we choose another player.
