About Rhydon
Protected by an armor-like hide, it is capable of living in molten lava of 3,600 degrees. By lightly spinning its drill-like horn, it can easily shatter even a diamond in the rough. One sweeping blow of its tail can topple a building. Standing on its hind legs freed its forelegs and made it smarter. It is very forgetful, however.

Interesting Facts about Rhydon

• Rhydon holds the distinction of being the first Pokémon ever created. (Reason why I made it the first pokemon of the month.)
  
• Rhydon has the highest base Attack stat of any Pokémon that is not fully evolved.

Rhydon in Competitive Battling
Despite not being fully evolved Rhydon can be used in a competitive battle scene. It's got a good HP stat and amazing attack and defense. It can also increase it's defenses with the item eviolite. It's other stats are lacking quite a lot. Since it is a rock type it gets a sp.def boost in sandstorm which helps it out so it can take special hits. It's ground/rock typing is both good and bad. The good it gets stab on one of the most famous move combos EdgeQuake (earthquake and stone edge) however the bad is it gets 4x weakness to water and grass while having numerous other weaknesses as well. Many prefer it's evolution Rhyperior because Rhyperior gets the ability solid rock. However for those of you like me who think Rhyperior is extremely ugly, Rhydon is still a great alternative.

Eviolite increases Rhydon's defense by 50%. The EVs are used to keep it's defenses up but you can use a more offensive set if you feel you need more power. Adamant nature lets it hit hard. Stealth Rock weakens anything that is weak against rock while also getting rid of sturdy and focus sash. Earthquake is a powerful stab. Stone edge is another powerful stab however if you want accuracy you can go with Rock blast. Rock blast is more accurate that stone edge and being a multi-hit move has the possibility of being more powerful than stone edge (though it probably won't). Megahorn lets you hit grass types super effectively.
