| Firstly I wish to THANK all the members whom took part in the Beta test of the PWBA. While the season didn't finish due to inactivity of myself, the host and some of the other members, I got the feel of the work involved to run something of this scale. So thank you everyone.
I have taken the time to remove and refresh the old pages and have currently sealed the topic.
I would like to announce now, that with ORAS so close to release, that I will be starting the first proper season very soon and registrations will open shortly. However I would like to stress that if you feel you WONT be up to playing each week, or wont commit like some members last season, please do NOT enter as this makes it harder for me to find a match for the active members each week. Out of the 14 members that started the PWBA at least 4 didn't take part in many, if ANY matches and some of you didn't take the time to create, build and give a fair match-up to the members who DID take the time.
As such this season will have a penalty system implemented. Any Coach that fails to make 2 matches running without a good reason will be removed from the season and will a) be unable to take part in the following season, b) will forfeit there Pokémon to the other members as well as being unable to draft the Pokémon they lost in ANY following season they may join.
I hope this brings some excitement to some of the members here. I will also be running more than one league which gives scope for more members to join this season. I will also be taking on a member to help me to keep the season and its process smooth.
Lastly I would like to help YF for his help with logos for the teams and SickSouls and Envi for there support. A huge thanks to the members that keep the season active, Taka, DF, Envi, Whirl, SS, Far and YF.

Guilty I doubt I would've ever been prepared even if I was here, so sorry to anyone that was supposed to battle me. I doubt that I'll participate in this season, but I can always help out with it if anyone needs me to.

| I agree with you Aurath. THe penalty is fair and I don't believe too harsh. It isn't fair to ruin the experience for the active members that put a lot of time into their teams. I myself, would LOVE to enter but I can't guarantee that I will be able to make every match at the moment as much as I want to. But who knows, in 2 week, things might change as my exams will be over. | |

| I've been thinking about PWBA, off and on, for a while, and I think a slightly different format may benefit it... Gimme your thoughts.
Rather than scheduled matches between specific players, weekends or such could be dedicated to league matches - allowing scoring for points based on the numbers of wins per session, but never more than once with an individual coach. Two outs could be implemented, where coaches drop from that session after losing twice, returning the next weekend.
Dedicated players still would come out on top at the season's end, but participation is a bit more lenient for those that have trouble showing up, for whatever reason. More ambitious stat-keeping would go out the window, but a win/loss record, aggregate scores and highlights battle videos would work nicely.

| I quite like this idea, although it would require anyone whom wanted to win to give up a lot more time to find and battle other coaches as well as possible back log if most coaches battle and leave only a few that arrive late.
It would also mean that those that appeared early would have an advantage as they could take on each coach, while later arrivals might find that a few coaches had been knocked out already leaving fewer points to win that session...

| Hm, also good points. Something like a three win limit, as well? | |

| It does seem most flexible, but my one conern is that we get to pick whom to battle.
*SickSouls is loving the decorum in this thread, even if erroneous.

| I like how it was, if we did this it could be something separate from the pwba altogether | |

| Hey, whatever works for the majority, reason the PWBA failed was due to inactivity. | |

| I have returned the PWBA topic and I urge players to register. I'm planning on having the PWBA up and running again in the first week of 2015.
I have taken some of what you thought YF to heart... I have implemented a free for all system on the weekends where, only the first match counts to your win/loss and all matched there after only count for your Pokémon's stats. This means that Coaches that want to battle a lot more can build up the stats of a pokemon win/loss making it more valuable an asset. I would like to try and implement as system where in the more valuable a pokemon the more its worth and the more money/points need to be spent on it in future seasons... although I'm unsure how I could do this fairly.. I will see though.... If I could find a way I could then off a more tactical game by having winners of a season earn points to spend next season.

| I'm thinking if I implemented a points system I would allocate points to a Pokémon in each tier... so all OU Pokémon would cost 60 points going down by 10 for each tier. All Pokémon in the Borderline tier would cost 5 less points then the tier above.
That makes 6 tiers not including not fully evolved. Each team would be allocated 500 points at the start of the season. this would mean a coach could have in theory 5 OU Pokémon, 4 UU at least. This would mean that more thought would be needed as points would still count for dropping and drafting new Pokémon during transfer windows. At the start of each season all teams are given 500 more points and coaches would gain more depending on there league table finish. It would also mean that a Pokémon's value would increase depending on KO's. So for instance for each KO a Pokémon's value increases by 1 point meaning at the start of the next season that Pokémon's value would be its tier base plus wins.
Scizor - 60 points - OU Tier 12 wins from last season Scizor - 72 points in season 2.
I think I could keep track of a system like this with some planning... what do you all think? To complicated?

| I like the points, but our tiers aren't very well defined here, except in Uber/Not Uber. Know we're Smogon except when we're not, but it could get pretty confusing. | |
