The Pokemon wars Tutor program?

Hi Everyone.

I was thinking about an idea after I found an interesting topic on Smogon. Its been backed by Far and Dialga also in another topic.

I was thinking that a lot of the new members seem to come for a set Pokémon then never come back, or come thinking there good and get swept, OR join and then become inactive after sometime, if that's due to lack of interest or lack of know how for battling.

So my idea is to offer tutoring.

Rules:
1. Each member who signs up to the tutor program is assigned a tutor from the pool of tutors who volunteer.
2. The tutoring will be time dependent. 2 weeks with there tutor, as long as both are active.
3. The tutor is to only instruct and battle, please try not to give away your hard worked for Pokémon to new members, they wont learn how to make there own that way.
4. Tutors are asked to be as active as possible or to reply quickly, your apprentice will be your responsibility for the tie period.

Lemmie know what you think and tell me if I should add anything else.

Anyone interested in becoming a tutor please post your name, time zone and approximate tomes your available so we can pair you with the appropriate apprentice.

If it becomes popular enough then we could ask the apprentices to battle in a mini tourney after to see how much they have learnt?

The tutoring session needs some kind of communication media, right? It's hard to tutor through chatbox because we're so popular

What's the best way to get semi-private chat between tutors and students?

Edit: I live in the Eastern timezone (GMT -5). Evenings and weekends are best for me... I work full-time.

I'm down if you'll have me. EST and pretty much after noon my time cause I work or practice in the mornings.

So we simply battle the apprentice, show advice, correct errors, recommend substitutions, moves, 'mons, etc., then we meet up a second time with the same apprentice, but this time we a new improved team. Okay. I recommend we get a schedule in which tutors show up once they've been appointed an apprentice.

Great idea I've had this idea for a while but never had any thoughts on how to structure it.

Ok, SS the idea will be there to answer your apprentices questions and offer advice and what not. They will contact you as little or as much as they need during your decided times and it will be your role to answer as best and fast as you can lol. Once the time is up, depending on the number of apprentices and tutors available, we can have a mini tourney for the apprentices only, for them to test there skills against other new learners.

Almost like driving lessons for new trainers XD
Seems wiser to have one tutor to trainer. Although we could maybe schedule times during the tutoring to have another mentor to pop in on the chats so that apprentice can be fed other ideas. After all more heads are better than one XD

You know when I first came here, I saw myself as a fresh, young, new trainer with great ambition and so many ingenious ideas and so much to contribute to this site... Nope xD

Aurath, your creativity won't ever stop amazing us will it? Haha, Ireally like the idea of having an apprentice tournament. It would even encourage tutors to perform atheir best !

My job requires very little brain power so I get chance to think these sorta things through XD

I'm down as well, I guess. Still working on that battling learning curve, but my breeding skills are second to none.

Also, I agree we may want to look into another chat option if things continue to pick up... Chatbox floods quickly. Can we get a whisper or active PM function?

Hmm. We could have a smaller, second chatbox at the bottom of the forum used especially for this. *shrugs* I'm okay with yelling at people in the main chatbox though.
