Case AE08199001 Aegislash Banned to Ubers by smogon.

Order, Order in the court.

Today we bring to light the recent news of Aegislash's ban from OU to Ubers.

Now the views on this are mixed and I have to admit, I am on the fence about this.... However, I think that we should follow suit...

Why I think the ban was unnecessary;
While Aegislash is powerful and can be a handful if used right, it is surprisingly easy to shut down, especially with my play style, Catch it out of defence form and its easy to break, a burn cripples it and taunt will also.

The reason's why I agree with Smogons ban and the reasons I feel we should follow suit.
Aegislash is a treat in the OU tier and while not at the top in my personal option, he has forced a lot of powerful pokemon out of OU. While we don't play in strict tiers here, I feel that some pokemon, Chansey, Lucario, Alakazam have been forced down to the next tier simply because Aegislash ruins them.

Aegislash has caused an over powering in UU while it sits in OU, so banning Aegislash means the UU tier can be freed of the pokemon that should be OU and OU while loosing a powerhouse, becomes a greater place with more options.

So, Smogon has moved Aegislash to its Uber tier.

Granted, the thing is a beast when run properly (if I do say so myself), but it has multiple solid counters and near-crippling weaknesses to Fire Blast and Earthquake - two very common moves. Additionally, King's Shield (a required moveslot for Aegislash) does not protect against statuses and only activates to contact moves (hello, EQ spammers).

It's a major threat, but not an Uber, IMHO.

It's easily a threat, but considering I'VE bested many Aegislashes (and this is Envi we're talking about here) I strongly believe that uber is going too far.
All you need is Earthquake.
And yeah, Fire Blast.
I think for on this forum, it should remain in the OU tier. I've no complaints with that.

Maybe accept the need for more walls in this gen of battling?

Yes, I agree. He's a major threat on the field, and he can play some decent mind games, but I don't feel he's good enough to be placed with the likes of Arceus and Groudon and Ho-Oh. Definitely strong, but not Uber strong.

Aegislash is so popular it gets two polls! Smogon took too long, I'm used to it being in OU, so, OU it stays for me.

Ive actually used him in ubers and he is quite good...also used klefki with success so...

Guys, while I see what your all saying and I agree, Aegislash isn't a huge threat, he wasn't moved due to his over powering ability to cripple the OU tier. Hes lot like Mega Kanga who hits like a train, or Mega Gengar capable of crippling your team.

they moved him to bring balance back to the meta game. Aegislash has forced Pokémon of OU into UU. Pokémon that have no right to be in the lower tier due to there massive power advantage. Smogon felt that Aegislash simply having a presence in the OU tier was unbalancing UU and Smogon strives to keep the tiers balanced and fair and so Aegislash was banished to restore order to the meta games tiers.

While we do not play strict tiers on Pokémon Wars, I feel some of the lesser used OU Pokémon might get some more play time without the fear of the steel/Ghost type.

Our tiering is pretty much Uber and Not-Uber, for all intents and purposes... So I don't see much point in balancing UU, when we never do anything with that rating.

Also... Aside from myself, I've seen two people run Aegislash, and that was only briefly. It's definitely not an OP presence here.

Yeah. Aegislash didn't really change much to my favorite UU pokemon. Lucario and Alakazam went to UU because no one uses them when they can just use their Mega evolutions.

I think Aegislash is just very versatile and has the base attack and special attack equal to that of a mega pokemon, but with the ability to use an item. If steel had resistance to Dark and Ghost type attacks, then I'd consider its typing fitted for Ubers alone. At any rate, we all know and enjoy using Aegislash. We're just used to it. At least that's my case.

I'm in for OU as well. We play very little UU and below here, so Smogon's logic does not apply.
