Excadrill is a great poke, especially with sand rush, but is it really necessary to limit him to ubers.
With weather nerf, sand rush won't last forever and with the switch in turn and probably set up turn, its half over already. Using excadrill isnt gonna guarantee a win with sand rush unless there are only one or to pokes left. Hes been downgraded to a late game sweeper. Plus without moldbreaker he can't really handle a rotom-W, gets will-o'd and hes usless.

I say we legalize sand rush and bring excadrill the liberation he so rightly deserves, OU status.

Like I mentioned in chat, I'm against this.

Sand Rush DOUBLES Excadrill's speed, allowing it to reach a potential 604 points of speed. Even with the weather nerf, that's still 4-5 turns of sweeping potential, requiring the sacrifice of several pokes to bring down a single threat.

Additionally, anything that's capable of walling Excadrill either lacks the power to hit back for appreciable damage and/or lacks super-effective moves against it - and it'll still remain vulnerable to Excadrill's appreciable 135 base rating for physical attack and access to Earthquake, Swords Dance, Brick Break, Rock Slide, Crush Claw, X-Scissor, Poison Punch, etc.

Poison punch...at most he get 4 unless for some reason hes himself runs sandstorm*takes a note down for this idea* and even then you gotta switch him in, survive, and survive again to set up riskin death...AGAIN.
After all that he deserves a few turns of sweep, with the nerf hes screwed after that meaning if using early he just weakens the opposing team, makes a noticable dent. Like I said before hes good, maybe even great, but he is not unstoppable, id rather face him then some other OU pokes *COUGHTERRAKIONCOUCH*

Excadrill has four weaknesses, two immunities and resists eight.
Terrakion has seven weaknesses, no immunities and resists six.

Additionally, Excadrill's typing gives it immunity to Thunder Wave and Toxic, two mainstays of wall pokemon. While it's vulnerable to Will-o-Wisp, that's still got a 15% chance to miss. Given that few teams run more than 1-2 status oriented or supported pokemon, and that any status pokemon will likely die from one hit by Excadrill, those aren't good odds.

I didn't realise it doubles the speed, I thought it just boosted it by one stage, like a scarf would..... With that attack stat and so much speed...

Like YF said, it would be hard to counter. Only Pokémon that springs to mind would be Prankster will-o-wispers.... Even then, the would likely take crippling damage. That would also mean having to carry a will-oer or trick room to counter your Excadrill.

The issue isn't so much the ability as an individual pokemon's ridiculous strength after the ability. I can't think of anything with Chlorophyll or Swift Swim that poses as big of a threat as Excadrill with Sand Rush. (Also, the Sandstorm breaks Focus Sashes and Endure, now that I think about it.)

Armaldo with Swift Swim is still outsped by most everything, even fully invested in speed, with it's pathetic 45 base rating. Kabutops only has 115 in patk and a whole host of weaknesses. Kingdra has a mere 95 in both attacking stats and Venusaur is 82/100.

None of them are major threats.

Sandrush Excadrill isn't banned to Ubers on Smogon. I don't see why we should ban him.

With unlimited sandstorm removed, and steel losing two resistances, Sand Rush Excadrill is a shadow of his former self.

While Kingdra, Venusaur, Victreebel, Kabutops etc. might be individually not as threatening as Excadrill, they have an easier time setting up. Venusaur has access to sleep powder and growth, making him an excellent mixed sweeper. Kingdra has difficulty going mixed, but since both Special and Physical Kingdra are viable, it's hard to switch in the correct wall until he reveals his moveset, and superior bulk makes it easier to set up dragon dance or subsistute. Physical Kingdra isn't necessarily stopped when the rain ends either, since Kingdra forces a ton of switches in the rain, multiple dragon dances can be attained. Yes, Excadrill has higher attack than Victreebel, but after a growth, Victreebel effectively 2HKO's the entire metagame with the exception of Mega Charizard (both), Dragonite, and Evolite Chansey. Skarmory is brought to 1 hp with weatherball, slowbro falls to +2 leaf blade, etc.

And remember... VICTREEBEL IS NU! (and Kingdra is UU)

Excadrill has really only one viable moveset: Earthquake, Rock Slide, Swords Dance and either Rapid Spin or Iron Head. This leaves him completely walled by Skarmory, whereas Kingdra destroy Skarmory with a rain-boosted hydro-pump, Venusaur's hidden power fire, or Victreebel's weather-ball can all do away with Skarmory. This is just one example. Excadrill is by no means bad, but for sure stoppable.

Here's far's top ten ways to stop Sand Rush Excadril, even after swords dance!

On the Switch
1) Skarmory - +2 252+ Atk Excadrill Rock Slide vs. 252 HP / 232+ Def Skarmory: 107-126 (32 - 37.7%) -- 92.6% chance to 3HKO
2) Air Balloon Ninetales - switches into earthquake, removes sandstorm, forces excadrill out with fire blast
3) Mega Char Y - same as ninetales
4) Bronzong - +2 252+ Atk Excadrill Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 130-153 (38.4 - 45.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
5) Rotom Wash - Comes in on earthquake, will-o-wisp or 4 SpA Rotom-W Hydro Pump vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Excadrill: 354-416 (97.7 - 114.9%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

On the Revenge
6) Prankster Will-o-Wisp
7) Jolly Stoutland - 252 Atk Choice Band Stoutland Superpower vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Excadrill: 526-620 (145.3 - 171.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
8) Mandibuzz - can tank a +2 rockslide and OHKO with foul play
9) Umbreon - same as mandibuzz
10) Multiscale dragonite - 252+ Atk Choice Band Dragonite Fire Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Excadrill: 416-490 (114.9 - 135.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

omg there are so many...
