Tournament Suggestions

I would like to hold an opening tournament when we manage to get a good number of members so I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for the tournament like a theme or special rules?

Feel free to share!

I'm thinking of the following:

5th Gen WiFi/PO

Tier: Uber/OU/UU (though I think we should know what tiers each Pokemon are for this forum. Some sites have their own tiers while others use other sites tiers)

Clauses:

Sleep Clause
Freeze Clause
Evasion Clause
Species Clause
Self-KO-Clause
Legal/Legit Clause (Pokemon must be either legal hacked or legit, no illegal hacks)
No Unreleased Abilities or Pokemon
Luck Item Clause
OHKO Clause
No Wonder Launcher
No banned combos for each tier (ex, Swift Swim+Drizzle is banned in OU and under)

Essentially the standard rules, nothing too special. If I think of anything unique I might edit this post or make another post when I can.

Well I was thinking we'd use the gym rules for the rules of the tournament. I was looking more for a theme like doubles tournament (all matches all double battles) or color challenge (Your only allowed to use pokemon of the same color) but maybe it would be best to start out with a simple singles tournament.

Yeah, I figured it should start out with the usual stuff first when there's more members around, but I do hope to see some unique rulesets like the ones you've mentioned as the usual stuff will get boring after a while.

After this tournament maybe one where you have to replicate a team from a character in the anime? I shotgun gary if so

Well after this tournament I was thinking of two options that I will now place in a poll (along with blue's idea).

The first being an NU tier tournament in which we must use only pokemon found in the NU tier (aka this list http://www.smogon.com/bw/tiers/nu )

The second being a 5th gen tribute in which we only use 5th gen pokemon since the 6th gen will start soon and 5th gens rule will come to an end.

I would also like to remind everyone that anyone can host a tournament at any time.

whoo! Another tournament! Count me in! I finally have an excuse to get the man whore out of the daycare! But before I vote.. I'm not quite sure I understand what the third choice really means.. Under the 5th gen tribute.. the 'Anime character' option, what's that about?

Like we choose a character from Pokemon (Gary, Ash, May, Brock etc) and use the pokemon they used in their teams in the anime

Dialga's correct but remember we have to finish this tournament before ill host a new one so please finish your match ups for round 1

Yeah if he doesn't come back by the time tpn and sicksouls match is decided ill move you on to the next round...

Got heaps keen for x and y so i thought that soon after it comes out we should have a tournament using ONLY the pokemon we used to beat the elite 4. So no breeding the same pokemon afterwards. You must use the exact same pokemon.

Now THAT is a Dem Dogg worthy idea. Again. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a blood nose. Again.

And I would be like the leagues in the anime which would be cool.

for after x and y come out that way there are more pokemon to choose from.

we could use one of those random number generators to generate 6 numbers. Those numbers would represent the pokedex number and so make up a team.

So everyone would have a random team...no advantages or disadvantages...even playing field...all bout skill...it sounds interesting

unless you happen to chance some ubers haha, but yes, should you be able to evolve to final evo or not?

Maybe winner gets a pokemon of there choice along side with an item.

I guess I could legal hack the Pokemon along with the item.

yeah i haven't been pushing it coz i wouldnt be able to participate in anything till pokemon for the 3ds. So once people are settled in with it then i will make a page for it.

Um, what about the Iris from B2W2? The champion? She has 'em all fully evolved.

from the anime SS, not the games  otherwise I'd choose Lance or Cynthia
