| Hi everyone..... Ok its no secret that the site has.... slumped in recent weeks, this is mostly due to users being busy... however I also think this has something to do with the fact all the gym slots are now full....
This idea could either run along side the gyms or we could replace them. IF we were to replace them then the current gym leaders would become trial trainers.
So I had a thought. I introduce the idea of the Pokémon wars type trails. Similer to the gyms, each trial trainer can only use mono type. A challenger would take the trial, and would need to beat EVERY trainer in the trial. There would be a trainer for every type and they would need to be tested like normal.
In total there are 18 typing and as such there would be 18 trials. Beat all the trials and you will be crowned a trial champion.... Sounds easy?
Haha I thought I would add a twist though, There can only be ONE type Champion on the site, The old champ and the new one would need to battle and the winner will be crowned the champion while the loser must retake all 18 trials to take another shot at being the champ. So say GC was to complete all of the 18 trials first, he would become the Pokémon type champion, he would be issued the title. However is SickSouls then completed the challenge he would have to battle GC, both players limited to there 10 Pokémon. The winner would be crowned the champion while the loser would need to retake the trials.
Maybe we could find some way of awarding the winner with a pokemon? I'm currently setting up my copy of black 2 so I could maybe offer a pokemon with move tutored moves?
Does that make sence? Ok i'll outline the rules here, please post your thoughts and comments. I think this would be a great way to get people onto the site and get this place active.
Type Trial rules; 1) Standard Pokémon war rules apply, so no ubers or anything we have banned. 2) A the challenger you must declare 10 pokemon before you take on the challenge, once declared, you cannot change your team, the team you chose MUST remain the same 10 pokemon for EACH trial, this will add more of a challenge and cause you to think about your team carefully. 3) While your 10 pokemon are fixed for all 18 trials you are welcome to change your items as you see fit. Dup items is also allowed. 4)If you cannot pass a trainer you can trade 2 wins to be able to change one of your 10 pokemon. 5) you can rechallange a type trainer as many times as you want, your wins and losses are between you and the trail trainer, only a win matters.
Let me know what you guys think. I'll update this post as I get comments. be good to see what you all think.

| agreed the idea..but.. i want to clear this points... so you declare a team, but no items right, you can switch items as many times as wanted? and.. can we keep trying for the same type as many times as we need, as long as we dont change teams, and our past wins will still cunt? cause having 10 wins and having to start over again cause loosing the 11 doesnt seem atractive. that said.. can we keep the scores anonymus? not nice having a lose 6-0 so everyone can see it. | |

| I think this is a fantastic idea I don't think we should lose the gyms though. I think running along side them is a better way to go. Gym battles are part of pokemon and reaching the Elite 4 has been our ambition since we all started playing the games. I have one question regarding the 10 pokemon one is allowed to register. If we are using normal rules, are we scratching the super effective clause for this? I ask this because if you have 10 pokemon, the chances are very likely that you may have more than two super effective moves on your team when facing a trial. For example, if you went against the Steel or Fire trial. Earthquake is one of the best coverage moves in pokemon due to base 100 power and the fact that it has physical damage but no actual contact with the opposing pokemon. Now I myself have Earthquake on more than 10 of my competitive pokemon. This means that of the 10 pokemon I choose for my trials, it is very likely I will have 3 or more Earthquakers when facing a trial which would not be allowed according to the clause. All in all though, I love this idea. | |

| I like the idea I think it will set us apart from other forums. If we do implement this I think we should replace the gym/e4 style we have now as they are too similar in my opinion.
Besides I'll have to be working in that area of the forum anyways seeing how the 5th gen league is going to have to be closed since Nintendo decided to shutdown all online services for ds and wii games on May 20th. So this would give me an opportunity to replace the whole thing at one time.

| @Dialga While that maybe true for some of the part Dia, a trainer must post there team into the thread and once posted, they must use ONLY those 10 Pokémon for all 18 challenges. This means means that although for some battles they may have plenty of super effective pokemon for others they will not. In regards to earthquake as an example, Although it has great coverage, it wont help much during the flying trial as well as others. The challenger will be able to use 6 out of there 10 select Pokémon each battle, but wont know what the trial trainer will be using, similar to the gyms, while I am limited to ghost, I often change the ghosts I use in my gym battles. Doing it this way means the challenger is at a disadvantage in some respects as each trial trainer can see and try to predict the challenger's Pokémon and selects suitable counters or build a strategy to help them while battling the challenger.
@GC glad you like the idea boss. Aye its sad that all online services will be removed as of May 20th. I think this is likely due to the increasing number of people using genned pokemon as they have to come via the GTS. Maybe you should poll that idea Boss? If people on the site still want the Gyms then we can keep them running easily between us as all mods and admins need to do it keep track of badges. This Type Trial will take more time however, but adds a competitive edge that seems to be lacking now the gym slots are full.

| Well it's not just pokemon but all wii and ds games so that's probably not the reason but either way the 5th gen league will have to be closed.
I will start a poll about whether or not to replace the gyms with this.

| Aye kinda true boss, although I still think that's part of it. Its likely that Nintendo are really struggling at the moment. There Wii U sales have fallen off and I think Song bought the manufacturer for the Wii U controller.... I wouldn't be surprised if we soon see Sony trying to buy Nintendo.... I only hope that if that's the case, that Nintendo gets to keep its image and ideas about games. I like Nintendo coz there games are more carefree and relaxed, where as Sony like the big fast passed, button mashing, gun slinging mayhem style games. | |

| If Sony did get their hands on Nintendo though, can you image what a great RPG they would make for Pokemon? | |

| Aren't there only 16 types? And i think that if you lose when your the champ and have to retake all 18 trials again.....its too much and there not many people on .there should be a limit to how many type trainers you need to vs in order to become champ | |

| It wouldn't be much of a 'trial' if it wasn't a challenge though. Nope definitely 18 different types. The winner becomes the champ while the loser must retake. It all seems fair, it gives people something to do and it should bring other people in as at the moment we have the gym system but now all the gym slots are filled, no one is really active, once you beat the gyms and the E4 then what? Move on to another forum? This will give people something to do all the time as people will wanna be the champ and you can keep battling until you get to the top. | |

| Yeah but if you lose against one person and you've beaten 17 people and you have to start all over again. It kinda sounds fustrating lol. | |

| no you don't lose your wins in all, only if you lose to the champ. If you beat 17 Trial trainers and lost to the last you could just keep battling until you won. Its only the Champ you can't keep battling. | |

| If you had to start again after you lost, it would probably take me forever to get up to 10… Kinda reminds me of an optional Type Trial Nuzlocke. | |
